Single mom's are everywhere, we used to be a taboo subject now we are mainstream USA. Single mom is a definition, but it doesn't define who we are. The typical sterotype of a mom who doesn''t work, or only works part-time and lives off welfare and who's sole mission in life is to find a man that will marry us to help us raise our children is offensive and judgemental. Not all single mom's ( or dad's) need fincial help, not all of us are looking to snare a mate. In fact I would bet most of us are just trying to do our very best to raise our children to be the best possible people they can be.
We don't need to be pitted or accused of having a hard time raising our children because we are a broken home. A home isn't defined by who lives there, but by the fact that the people love each other. I might be a divorced single mom but my home is not broken. It is filled with love, laughs, an argument now and then. My home is just like everyone else's home.
